Cleanup underway after truck plows into Zippy’s Wahiawa

WAHIAWA (HawaiiNewsNow) – Cleanup efforts are underway after a truck plowed into a Zippy’s restaurant in Wahiawa.
The incident happened at around 8:15 a.m. on the dine-in side of the restaurant on N. Kamehameha Highway.
Honolulu EMS said it responded and evaluated a man in his 60s at the scene.
No other injuries were reported. Zippy’s said no guests were seated in that section of the restaurant, and no team members were in the affected area.
“We are grateful for the quick response of EMS and other first responders,” the restaurant said in a statement. “We are grateful that our guests, our team members, and the driver are safe and there were no injuries.”
The cause of the crash remains unclear.
The dine-in portion of the restaurant remained closed until 5 p.m. while the takeout window operated as usual.
In a separate incident, about a few hours later, a car crashed into the bushes in the drive-thru of Pearl Highland’s Dunkin Donuts.
Photos from the scene show a concrete pillar damaged from the impact.
A man in his 60s was treated for minor injuries and was listed in stable condition.
